Actually, 26.9 cents a gallon in the early 1950's

is the equivalent of $2.60 per gallon today.

That's right about where most of the United States

is today--even with higher gasoline taxes--and some

states are substantially lower than $2.60.

 

All things are relative.  Isn't it a bit comforting to know

that we're not paying more for gas, relatively speaking,

than our fathers or grandfathers did?

 THANK YOU, JOHN.   And most cars go 1  1/2 to 2 times as far on that gallon.
