Is there someone on this forum who can help me identify the cowl tag for a car I'm buying?

ST 71    34267LAN471674   BDY  (not sure the 12th character is a 6)

972              42            G                     (there is something under the BDY but I can't read it.

07C

I know this so far:

ST 71 means it's a 71

3 = Olds

42=Cutlass Supreme

67=2 door convertible

I'd like to know exterior and interior color and carb size.

Thanks for the help

There is nothing on the cowl tag that provides any info on engine or drivetrain.  The cowl tag was for use by Fisher Body and was attached before the body was assigned a VIN or mated to the chassis. The info on it only affected Fisher Body.

The word under BDY is PNT (for Paint)

ST71 = Style 1971 model year

3 = Oldsmobile Division

42 = Cutlass Supreme

67 = Convertible

LAN = Lansing MI assembly plant

471674 = Fisher Body sequence number (not related to the VIN)

TR 972 = TRIM Jade Green bucket seat interior

42 G PNT = PAINT Palm Green (42) with Green (G) convertible top

07C =  built third week (C) of July (07) 1971

While there is no engine data on the cowl tag, the base engine in the 1971 Supreme was the L74 350 4bbl motor. ALL 1971 Oldsmobile 4bbl motors used a 750 CFM Quadrajet carb.

Possibly a new dash pad although not really considered trim.

I found lots of replacement instrument panel covers, console covers, knobs, bezels, etc on OPGI.  Is there another company that stocks this kind of stuff?  Thanks

Lots of companies stock these parts, but they all come from the same factories in China. OPGI, Fusick, Year One, The Parts Place, Tamaraz, USA Parts Supply, etc, etc. I'm pretty sure no one sells a repro dash pad for these cars.
