DualQuadDave Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 Quarter window or Big window? If it's the quarter window, the gear is probably shot/frozen.
Eric's.64.Superwildcat Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 The crank itself is probably fine. Its most likely that something is binding in the travel of the window mechanism. The outer door skin is fairly easy to remove. Once removed you should be able to find the problem quickly.
Hazdaz Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 Can you slightly lift the front edge of the window? Its probably binding up by not going up perfectly straight. You can also test this by lubing up the rubber trim around the window (use water or WD-40 just for the test). This will make the window slide a little easier and if the window goes up now then its probably misaligned some.
abandg Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 The back of the cranking mechanism is probably pulling away from the gear box. It has two rivets and they break. This is common due to age and use. When you try cranking the window the gear has a tendency to push out the back and becomes jammed. Just my two cents. Gene.
