So I guess we'll have to share the "first in North America" bragging rights. Peter There were so many car manufacturers at the time and not the best record keeping with timing so there are typically several car companies that have a similar creation at the same time. I think whole point about the door being able to be removed had to do with style. There were many people at the time who probably didnt want to have a solid door on the front.
