kfle
I acquired a 1922 Maxwell Model 25 in the spring. the owners manual mentions that when filling the oil there is an oil gauge on the side of the engine that tells you the oil level. My engine does not have the oil gauge, but it has the bolt where it would go. Does anyone have one of the oil gauges on their engine and can send me a picture so I can see what it looks like? Thanks! JFranklin
Not sure of the Maxwell, but they usually are a rod with a cork in the pan that raises the rod when oil is added. My Hupmobile is set up similar.
hddennis
Took me awhile to find a picture and really hoped for a better one but until I do this will have to do. The bolt holds a stamped metal arch that reads "empty" & "Full". There is a stamped pointer clamped onto a rod coming through the oil pan that has a cork float on it's end.
