Bob, the pulley where the fan hub is located is on an eccentric, loosen the pinch bolt and rotate the large nut to slacken the belt, the hub will probably need sliding forward in the housing so that there is enough room between the pulley and the cylinder head, to squeeze the belt out. Then you need to undo the rubber/canvas couplings on the drive shaft running alongside the engine. The belt can then be removed.

When doing mine I mark everything with tipex so the shaft goes back together as removed.

Thanks Wayne! I got the new belt on and now it won't start for some reason? Never had a problem with it starting in the past so this is something new. Any ideas? I have a new cap, rotor, points and condenser coming to see if that may help. Other then that someone said maybe the solenoid or stater but it worked fine till I put the ne belt on.

If it worked ok until the new belt was installed don't start changing, adjusting, or replacing things without a surety of what is the reason it stopped working! Do thorough diagnostics. Does it have gas? Spark? Compression? Did something get bumped out of whack? Changing parts can get you farther from the truth of the problem.
