low / lower PSI rad cap, pros & cons

What do you think are the benifits or setbacks to having a low pressure rad cap.

(even as low a 7)

From my understanding the only reason for having the psi high is to raise the boiling point.

But with a lower pressure cap you run less risk of blowing something out, which IMO is nice on a older vehicle, especially on long trips.

The pressurized system also keeps the coolant from boiling and cavitating the suction of the water pump. Even very slight cavitation will destroy the pump in a short time. There are simply no pros to operating the cooling system at less than design pressure.
