Exhaust Manifold Paint

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if the exhaust manifold was factory painted on a 1950 Buick Special? A picture would be very helpful.

No manifolds were painted back then. Unless it was a bit of overspray from painting the engine.  There was no high temp paint. Some expensive cars had porcelain coated manifolds. There are durable high temp paints that look like fresh cast iron.

I sandblasted mine. Then wire wheeled them. Then added a high temp clear coat you can buy at an automotive parts store. Still look the same since I've running the engine.
