Removing soap suds from RAD.

Recommended Posts

Need to remove soap suds from rad. cleaning. I used Dawn dishwasher soap to clean my 27 Buick rad.  After flushing 5 times with clear water, still can't get rid of the suds. What could I add to get rid of suds. thanks

I have removed soap suds from radiators by running engine for 30-45 minutes with a garden hose in the radiator constantly overflowing it with water. Its a bit messy but always worked. It also can be used to "float" oil from a cooling system.

The best soap to clean an engine cooling system is dishwasher soap - it doesnt foam and is a very agressive detergent.

soap is alkeline, use vinegar which is an acid to neutralize it.  Still need to drain and flush after that process.
