fastdrink
I've rebuilt the carb, changed all the filters including the tank. Was on the freeway about 60 mph and the engine just cut off
lrlforfun
OK FastDrink: It could be a hundred and one things....or a combination of things. Gotta diagnose. It's spark or fuel. I'd start with spark first then fuel. Mitch
KongaMan
Did it start back up? Might be the ignition switch.
kreed
My 64 did the same thing last year- was the fuel pump but like said could be several other things as well. KReed ROA 14549
Seafoam65
If it died like you turned the key off while driving at speed, it's electrical most likely bad points and condensor. If it started slowing down and losing power but still ran and then died, it is a fuel delivery problem.

68RIVGS
Possibly fuel starvation ? On my '68 the aged, old rubber fuel line hose would collapse and cut off the fuel flow to the mechanical vacuum fuel pump - replacing the old rubber fuel line with new rubber fuel line solved the problem ! Rob Mangieri
Just in case... When you swapped to the MSD did you bypass the ballast resistor to supply a full 12v switched power to the unit? The stock coil + wire uses a resistor to cut the voltage back to save from burning points. You do not want that with an HEI or MSD.
KongaMan
The 63 doesn't have a ballast resistor; it uses a length of resistor wire in the instrument panel harness.
rocky5517
Happened to me with my 67, cruising along at 35 mph. The battery cable clamp came loose.
fastdrink
Up date it appears that my coil was not getting correct voltage therefore shutting off the engine, I will continue to test but the car has not stopped on me!!! Thx for all the input!!!!!!!!!!!
