1942 DeSoto with overdrive

Recommended Posts

Can someone tell me:  Will the rear leaf springs from a sedan work on a convertible?

My project is a 1951 Chrysler Imperial

Thanks

The Hollander 1952 says '39-51 DeSoto all passenger and light commercial rear leaf springs are the same. They fit a number of other Chryco makes too: Dodge '38-51 all Pass. and Light commercial; Ply '37-51 all pass., utility sdn & sdn delivery plus others.

I know this topic has been thoroughly answered before....  but I need to say It's not about will other MoPar springs fit his convertible... it's about the ride and proper ride height for correct front end geometry.

This thread is very confusing. The Title is "1942 Desoto with overdrive", but the question is about a 1951 Chrysler Imperial???

my 1 and 1/2 cents. The button on the dash 'may' refer to the push button starter that was part of the Fifth Avenue Ensemble package. This was the first for DeSoto since the Airflow. It was also available as a separate option. My DeLuxe Town Sedan has one.

Ray Reis was a big 5th Ave owner with his Blue 3 pass S10 cpe and S10 convert.
