Turbinator Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Gents, could anyone verify with a high level. of confidence the 63 cast aluminum wheel cover in the picture is the original finish? Many Thanks, Red Riviera Bob
1965rivgs Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 (edited) The picture is deceiving. Looking closely at the reflections you will see the outer edges and the center area are polished and the area in between the spokes are a satin finish. Tom Edited March 1, 2018 by 1965rivgs (see edit history)
Turbinator Posted March 2, 2018 Author Posted March 2, 2018 Tom, good eyes. I agree with you regarding the finish. I see the reflection on the section that holds the Center cap. The area between the vanes, I now call the web, is in fact a satin or natural finish. The polished ring around the circumference is harder for me to see, but it makes sense it would be polished. Thank you this helps me out. Red Riviera Bob
kreed Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Just wanted to give a shout out and thank your to Bob Burnopp (Red Riviera Bob) who just repaired/ refinished by 4 turbines for my 63. He had a tough job to do and did an outstanding job with far more patience than I would have had. These wheels are extremely hard to clean and polish and just make look right . Suspect they will be equally hard to keep looking good . I highly recommend Bob if you want to save yourself many many hours of tedious work . Thanks again Bob KReed ROA 14549 2 1
