Tom Devoe
All, I was wondering what the extra hole is for in an AC air filter that I was planning on using. The hole is smaller than the carburetor neck, on the opposite side of the can, and must of had something attached to it or the filter would draw in dirty air. Not sure what it came off originally, but I was told a Chevrolet. Any guesses? Also - I have this mystery bracket under the hood of my car. Not sure what it did, but looks like it may have held an oiler. Can anyone confirm this? If so, I'll need to find an oiler that fits and put it back to work! Grimy
The bracket did indeed hold an oil can--that is, an "oiler" with spout. The hole in the air silencer may have been for a crankcase vent tube, so that crankcase vapors were drawn into the intake.
