Cornpanzers Riv Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 Looking for new rivets that fasten the vent grill to the kick panel. Is this a common upholstery rivet? Thank you.
RivNut Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 Not necessarily an upholstery item, but you can probably find a tubular rivet that will work. Do a goggle search. You'll need a tool for clinching them.
Riviera63 Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 (edited) I found steel tubular rivets at my local hardware store. The head looks the same. They were 2 piece and the backside screwed into the tube rivet so you did not need a special tool to fasten. I think the ones I found were a tad too long so I had to cut them a little shorter. Look good, no one would know they were not original. They are nice because if you have to, you can remove them without ruining anything. If you want I can take a picture of mine. RivNut Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 I've seen those and I think they're called book binding rivets. They come in different lengths and widths. I like the idea that you can remove them if needed. Look in the yellow bins in your hardware store.
