Smartin
I am losing compression in one of the cylinders on my 71 350. One guy told me it was an exhaust valve leaking. How can I get this fixed and how much is it going to cost me???? smrtin17@aol.com
Guest brh
Do a compression leak down to determine what the problem is first. It can be an exhaust valve, intake, rings or a gasket. This is done by pumping compressed air in the cyl. Where ever the air comes out will tell you where to look. If its intake you will hear air coming out of the carb. If its exhaust air will come out of the tail pipe. Gasket you will see air bubbles in your coolant. and if air is going by your rings you should hear it hissing out of the crankcase. Make sure the cyl you are checking is a top dead center and in its compression stroke (ready to spark).
