Findareatta
I have read the tutorial for replacing a missing or damaged Cam position sensor magnet interrupter but have not replaced it yet. A missing magnet will cause the check engine light to come on but what else will it cause? The vehicle runs fairly well as a second car. I'm trying to list needed repairs by priority. Any comments are appreciated.
Ronnie
Basically the camshaft sensor synchronizes the opening of the injector with the opening of the intake valve for optimum fuel delivery. Without the magnet in place you might lose a little mpg and there might be a slight decrease in performance. It will not keep the engine from starting nor will it leave you stranded on the side of the road.
RetroJohnny
Mine has that same issue! The repair looks like a PITA! But luckily it is a fairly cheap part, I believe I picked mine up for 12 dollars or something. Just really don't wanna do it
89RedDarkGrey
It's actually a very easy repair. Thorough preparation is important, the "indentation" (hole with bottom) must be mechanically and chemically clean, so the JB Weld will adhere properly. No leftover debris or oil. Use of a mirror and flashlight is a wonderful aid. And- you must have patience- no disturbing for at least 24 hours.
