BuickBob49 Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 I believe that the metal hood support arms on my 1939 Roadmaster are missing some sort of rubber bumpers to keep them from damaging the hood when they are in the upright position. (See photo showing arm on passenger side of engine compartment in lowered position.) Could someone help me with a photo showing what the bumpers look like and a source where I could purchase some?
jvelde Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) Bob's has them - http://bobsautomobilia.com/hood-items/page-3/ , however, I didn't like that they slipped and let the hood fall, so I cut a two inch piece of heater hose and slip it over the prop end. Works good and if you are showing the car you can slip it off and put the bumper pad on. Edited January 4, 2018 by jvelde (see edit history)
BuickBob49 Posted January 4, 2018 Author Posted January 4, 2018 Thanks! I also thought about heater hose for the props. I'll order the rubber pieces from Bob's. Maybe a piece of tape or something else with an aggressive surface stuck to the underside of the hood, in combination with the rubber pieces, would prevent slippage.
Dynaflash8 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 I've used a piece of heater hose since 1981 and the same ones are still working fine. 1
