I'm looking for information/pictures/specs/parts for creating a replica '67 Delmont 88 425 police package car such as used in Ca. and other states (Mo? and Fla?). I have very little info to start with and I need more knowledge to procede with my project. I do have a '67 Delmont 88 425 4dr post to base it on. Thanks to anyone that can provide any factual information. Henry

Henry, I do have a 1965 Olds police brochure, several pages long, has some interesting info on the big cars as well at the Cutlass series used for police duty. I can photocopy and send to you if you are interested...the 65-70 big cars are pretty much the same mechanically, as I am sure you know. There is a book I have seen in the "Transportation" section of Barnes and Noble, called "Police Cars" or somesuch, does show a pic of a CHP 1967 Olds Apprehender. Has steel wheels with what look like 66-67 style mini Toronado center caps, looks kinds cool, makes me wonder if these will fit on any steel wheels. Unfortunately, there is little info on the car other than the pic, and a blurb stating that it was an unorthodox choice that year.

By the way, I have been searching for a while, in vain, for a rear sway bar for my 65 Starfire, which would definately be a police package piece (though I'm sure not exclusively). scottfettner@hotmail.com

  • 2 weeks later...

A 68 Delta Custom Holiday Coupe with police package showed up at the ASE Zone Show last weekend in Charlotte. It had the wheels Scott mentions, among other things like bucket seats/no console. Beautiful car, owned and shown by original owner grandmother and 19 year old grandson. And uninformed people kept asking why it had Toronado center caps?

Henry, do you have a scanner? I don't. This would be a neat pic to post here.

One of my Pontiac buds has one and sends me stuff all the time. Maybe I can upload the cop car pics with his. And then maybe I could just go to Office Max and get one, they're cheap enough. WalMart is always out of them <img src="/ubbthreads/images/icons/mad.gif" alt="" /> .
