Harold Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 I recently came across this in a box I haven't opened in years. I'm thinking it's an emergency brake warning light. The pigtail is about 7" long and there's a male bullet connector on the end. I can't find any markings on it and googled with no luck. Any idea what it fits? Thanks, Harold
D Yaros Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Looks as though it could be an -aftermarket- emergency brake light?
GARY F Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Has to have some parts missing for an emergency brake light. But that is what it look like.
Spinneyhill Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 How big is it and what is the spring for? Is it a push switch?
fordrodsteven Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 (edited) My guess would be (with that bullet end) something Ford mid fifties? possibly up into the early sixties. The original wiring on my '55 Thunderbird has those type connectors. Edited December 27, 2017 by fordrodsteven (see edit history)
Harold Posted December 27, 2017 Author Posted December 27, 2017 Spinneyhill, The spring holds the red lens and bezel into the chrome bracket. The wire is the power lead for the light bulb. There should be some kind of 'push in and turn' arrangement to access the bulb but so far I haven't gotten it open. Fordrodsteven, Now that you mention it, the connector does look 'Ford-ish'. Good point.
Xander Wildeisen Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 It looks like the same light housing on this e-brake https://www.ebay.com/itm/1956-Pontiac-emergency-brake-housing-with-glass-gem-warning-light/263403148489?hash=item3d540d14c9:g:2oEAAOSwVL1V-03x&vxp=mtr 1
Harold Posted December 27, 2017 Author Posted December 27, 2017 Xander, Thanks for the link. You got me going in the right direction. I started rummaging through 1955-57 GM listings on eBay and found the one below: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-Pontiac-Hand-Brake-Signal-Lamp-/232519956124?hash=item362344f69c%3Ag%3AkCIAAOSwYIVZ3j0C&nma=true&si=VGr%2BazBF0x%2FBHAAdmgbxu%2BmZ9h0%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Looks like we have a winner!
