Front bearing Buick Master Six 1928

Hello

I bought buick 1928 and i have one problem, when i driving my bearing in the front wheel has blurred. I'm trying to find them but web is empty. The number which i have on bearing is SKF XH1113164. If someone can help with find bearing i will be greatfull.

Contact a bearing supply house, maybe they can help or give a solution. There are too many of those cars on the road not to have something or somehow to get you on the road.

Make sure to pack the new bearings before driving. You might want to check all the other lube spots before your next outing also.

SKF is a Swedish bearing company, its most probably not the first bearing installed :-)

Post your question in the Buick Pre War section http://forums.aaca.org/forum/60-buick-pre-war/. There you'll address more Buick PreWar guys and one or the other might also have changed the front wheel bearing.

Or try to ask Bob from Bobsautomobilia. Couldn't find a '28 front bearing in the catalog  but he will know which one fits.

All of the front wheel bearing parts are the same , so this is the range you are looking for.  1922-24 6 cyl, 1925-26 Master, 1927-28 ser 120-128   Hugh

You may have to try find a suitable bearing by dimensions.

The dimensions likely are metric.

Is that a 3 piece bearing with separate inner race, ball assembly and outer race?

Any industrial bearing supply house should be able to cross reference that SKF number. I'm betting that exact bearing is still available.

Not necessarily.

Some of those old bearing are made to dimensions grabbed from the air.......  .........so may be unobtainium in the exact sizes.

Timken also have a bearing interchange pdf (as well as a bearing dimensions pdf) on the www you can download. I have yet to find interchanges for other brands.

 

You will need to start with the ID (bore size) and OD and enter the dimension tables. Try a number of bearing suppliers: they stock different brands. Remember that often different cups might be used with a particular cone.
