crazycars
Have any of you attended the Charlotte car shows in April. The show appears to be huge. How does it compare to the fall Hershey event? Thanks in advance for all opinions!
Phillip Cole
Take a look at these Hornets Nest Region and Charlotte Autofair websites. Our office doesn't switch over some of the web info to the April event until after the first of the year. But you can still get an idea. Working on the brochure for National right now. http://www.hnr-aaca.org/ http://www.hnr-aaca.org/Charlotte-AutoFair.html http://www.charlotte-autofair.com/

huptoy
It will be a 2 to 3 day event to visit the swap meet + car corral. Un like Hershey, you will find old stuff less than 25 years old. You will also find many of the same commercial vendors. Charlotte is not a clone of Hershey, they are both fun & have great people. I believe it’s a great event to visit.

For anyone who has them, statistics would be helpful. I think the "Auto Fair" is a fraction of Hershey's size, but people still enjoy it very much. I understand that the spring show is larger than the autumn show. And in the last few years, there has been an AACA Southeastern Division Spring meet held in conjunction with the spring Auto Fair, so if you go on the day of the national meet, you'll see 300 or more nice antique cars on display. (Hershey has 1200+.) Edited December 21, 2017 by John_S_in_Penna (see edit history)
Jim Bollman
I have been once, two years ago. Been thinking of going again in 2018. What I learned as a first timer is that the first day is really a setup day with lots of empty spaces. There are two fields, one inside the speedway and one outside. The inside field is very confusing for a first timer because of pit roads and a road race track inside the oval track. Hard to gauge size comparisons with Hershey without knowing the number of spaces but eyeball and feet fatigue I would say maybe a 1/4 of the size of Hershey.
Restorer32
We were there in 1980 when the entire flea market was in the infield. We camped in our truck. Found nothing we needed but we stopped at a small local car show somewhere in Virginia on our way home and found a much needed '31 Chev trunk rack. Durant Mike
Thinking of heading to Charlotte for the first time this year. What would be a good place to look for hotels? Within say 20 miles from the event.
Phillip Cole
Look at the seven hotels in the meet brochure. (Meets at AACA.org) They are all within 2 miles of the Speedway and varying price levels.
Terry Bond
One of our favorite events! You won't find better hospitality anywhere. Looking forward to it. Terry
