petelempert
I was gonna say console to floor mount if the center hole is threaded. PRL
Seafoam65
I agree.....looks like a console bracket to me.
rodneybeauchamp
Spot on, is the rear mounting bracket for the console on first generation Riviera. It is upside down, should be a U shape when screwed to the transmission tunnel hump. The two speed nut threads are where two of the chrome screws secure the Left and right rear metal chrome vents. Ah memories, wonderful memories of the heater core remove and replace.
petelempert
The giveaway clue is the green/blue colored captive nut tabs on each end. I feel like I've eyeballed every fastener on my 63. The interior fittings around the console are the only place I remember seeing that particular fitting. PRL

rodneybeauchamp
You can see in the photo the bracket at the rear of the air duct. The centre hole secures the cardboard ductwork for the rear heater and A/C outlets. I found it useful to enlarge the two mounting holes in the bracket where it screws to the floor as this provides some left/right adjustment for the console. Helps when trying to line up those pesky tabs at the front of the console and helps keep the gaps smaller at the front. just my two bobs worth. ?
