I am on the fence about which seal to use I have the lip seal from bob's and when I ordered the front cover gasket set from Olson's it came with the original style felt seal I need some opinions on this to help me make up my mind

I did adapt the timing cover seal to a lip seal. Since I used the original sheet metal cover to hide things I also left some of the felt inside since the shaft has a spiral groove cut on it. A little insurance. No leaks for years after that. Of course now the engine is still at the shop in Cazanovia NY. No word on progress to report.5a300448161a3_frontpulleysealinstalled20362.thumb.jpg.939c14894bff31e2ec107e983fc87d0f.jpg

Ron,

See this link.  I followed others and I am installing a lip seal as well.  In addition, I am installing a shaft sleeve because the pulley shaft has a groove cut in it.  I will be putting a little 2 part epoxy in the groove, and then installing the shaft sleeve over that after the epoxy is dry.  I bought everything except the lip seal on Amazon.
