39Cdan Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Hi. Removed exhaust and intake manifolds to blast and paint. The heat riser valve is missing. Can anyone out there suggest a source for heat riser valve replacement parts? Thank you! Kevin
Dave_B Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Kevin, they are available from Bob’s Automobilia. bobsautomobilia.com Dave 1

The copper manifold gasket only works if the manifold and head are both milled smooth. Otherwise you'd have to use the soft spongy gasket which just burns out.
DonMicheletti Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 If you do machine the exhaust manifold, you have to machine the intake manifold too - the bolt ears have to be the same height
39Cdan Posted December 9, 2017 Author Posted December 9, 2017 Thanks Gents. Follow-up opinion please - My engine has exhibited a miss for several years, sometimes barely noticeable and sometimes jerks the car. I have replaced all ignition parts. Also, starting the car has always left a black spot on the garage floor. The miss lead me to pull the manifolds and make preps for pulling the head. Can the absence of the heat riser flapper cause an engine miss? Can the miss result from a combination of conditions: missing flapper, Carb needs rebuilt, poor valve seals? Is one of these conditions far more likely than the others to cause a miss? Thank you!
MCHinson Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I would suspect your issue is carburetion. I suspect it is running rich. A carburetor rebuild will likely help it.
