Help! A '39 V-12 showed up with copious amounts of antifreeze in the crank case. Not good. Turns out the timing cover/water pump housing has corroded thru allowing coolant to be pumped directly into the oil pan. We need a good used or new reproduced timing cover at a minimum. Advice? Comments? Condolences?

Covers were reproduced several years ago, and they were expensive. I was told they were decent reproductions. Did someone say they were expensive? To be fair and honest, I havn't used one and maybe the cover wasn't so expensive, just the owner was cheap? Last I can remember they are out of production. Ask one of the usual V12 Packard shops.......Brian Joseph or Chris Charlton would know. Gene Perkins or Dave Mitchel also. Please post the current availibilty and price when you find out. Don't waste your time with an old one thats been repaired, I have seen them crack after heat cycling a handful of times.

I am not going to be a lot of help with this post but here it is for what its worth. I bought one for a 1934 Packard twelve. it was about 2700 to 2800 USD. New casting, nice machining. I believe it was done by a guy in Spokane Washington. This was back in 2011. The guy i bought it from was talking about winding down his operation as he seemed to be in his mid 70's. If i find his contact information i will PM you.

After inquiring I ordered two new covers. That are very nice, and worth every cent to have as a spare in the event of a future cover failure.

Mine arrived last week, nice castings, no issues.
