The Boston Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Hello Great site here. Looking forward to spending a lot of time here. I have a 1955 Buick special 2 door post car. I'm not sure how to identify the model? I need to purchase a windshield and the model is mandatory. Could someone please help me out here. Thanks
tripwire Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Post a picture of the Data Plate. It's on the upper cowl panel near the wiper motor under the hood.

tripwire Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Scroll down on the main page and look for the Buick forum.
Rusty_OToole Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 In 1955 Buick made a range of models, most of them used the General Motors B body which they shared with Oldsmobile. While the big Roadmaster shared the Cadillac C body. This means your Buick Special shares many parts with the Super and Century but almost nothing with the Roadmaster. I wouldn't be surprised if the Special, Super and Century shared the same windshield with Oldsmobile. As far as the windshield goes, ask your local auto glass company. If they still have the mould they can make you a new one for the same price as any other windshield. Some glass companies do supply windshields that far back.
Marty Roth Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 55-48 would indicate a 1955 Buick Special Series 2-door sedan 55 is the model year 41, 43, 46, 48, 49 - 40 Series is the Special 60 Series was the Century 50 Series was the Super 70 Series Was the Roadmaster
