Vintageben Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Hi Everybody just a quick question are there any interchangeable parts between a 1929 Plymouth U to a 1929 Chrysler 65. Thanks for any help Cheers Ben
Spinneyhill Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Just a quick answer: probably. But it will take much study of parts books etc. to ascertain what was used in both. Any particular parts you are interested in?
Vintageben Posted November 14, 2017 Author Posted November 14, 2017 Ah I should have known better that there are no quick questions or answers with old cars. Mainly Radiator, diff and some body panels as the is a complete 29 Plymouth for sale near by but I think I already know that I should be patient and keep an eye out for a correct parts car for my Chrysler. Thanks all the same

So many of the parts from the two cars look the same, but upon measuring or side to side comparison, they will more than likely be slightly different.
viv w Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 The 29 Plymouth is a 4 cyl with no water pump, so I doubt the radiator will be the same. The rear axle ratio of a 4Cyl versus a 6 cyl will be different. Body panels, may look the same, but I doubt it. Keep looking. Viv.
Spinneyhill Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 None of the bearings in the diff., transmission or steering gear are the same. The only bearing that is the same is the generator at one end. (Chiltons).1
hchris Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Next to nothing is interchangeable, two different ends of the market when these were sold, Plymouth being the cheapest and Chrysler the dearest. As mentioned Plymouth is very basic 4 cylinder, Chrysler up market 6 cylinder.
Vintageben Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 Thanks everyone for confirming what I already had a gut feeling about. I will leave the Plymouth were it is and keep searching for a parts car as there is nothing I particularly need at the moment but I do like to have some spares on hand. Thanks again
