Mark Gregory Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 (edited) For sure this is not mine . http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5049449/Austin-Healey-24-carat-gold-plating-set-auction.html Edited November 4, 2017 by Mark Gregory (see edit history)
Matt Harwood Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Quick, call the guys who love the 24-carat gold toilets. Gads that thing is ugly. 3
A. Ballard 35R Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 According to the write-up the car is described as one of the "post war" Austin-Healeys. Wonder which war was being referenced.
jan arnett (2) Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 I will open the bidding at $100. I didn't see a reserve.
Bleach Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 I would like to sit in the mink seats and fart.
Malo48 Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Yikes. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
John_S_in_Penna Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 From everyone's horror, I thought the entire thing was plated. With just the trim plated, it doesn't look horrible to me (though I wouldn't opt to do that myself). But gold plating is very thin. Electroplating, the thinnest, may be only two MILLIONTHS of an inch thick. So plating the trim, regardless of the process, doesn't add much value to the car. To each his own, I guess. 1
Curti Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Gold plating isn't much more expensive than Chrome plating. Butt Ugly !
60FlatTop Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Does KREED from the Riviera section read this? I just sent him the shirt to go with it. Bernie
ericmac Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 You'd think they would at least provide matching golden keys, right? Ugly car.
mercer09 Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 I could see Pussy Willow driving this from an early Bond movie................... a chicks car.
