Chrysler rear light

Recommended Posts

I am looking for another rear light for my 1929 Chrysler 65, and was wondering if anybody knows if these lights were fitted to any other make or model,  the one I’ve got has Chrysler stamped on it but other manufacturers may have used the same light, if anyone has one or knows of anything similar please let me know. I’m in the UK so I need another one on the passenger side because we drive on the other side of the road.

Plymouth, DeSoto, Dodge Brothers 1929-31, Durant and various other makes used that same bucket/lens/bezel combination. They usually say, "FILITE" on them. What is the diameter of yours? Some of the Chrysler models had larger items.

The DB item looks like this for 1931....but there are blank lenses available. The Chrysler items are a little different shape in the upper part of the lens.

The Dodge and Plymouth lights were a bit smaller. Chrysler tail lights are about 4 1/4" while the Dodge / Plymouth are 3 1/2" across the bezel.

Some Franklin and Studebaker were quite similar.

Dave    Fifty years ago I wanted to put a matching tail light on my Pontiac (first picture).  I couldn't find anything so I installed two matching 50's/60's truck taillights.(second picture).  This gave me turnsignals and dual lights.  Over the next twenty years I found pieces and eventually was able to exactly match my original. I have at least ten bezels,  eleven bodies  and eight lenses that were supposed to be right but were mis-measured or just plain mis-advertised.  When I got my matching lamp done I gave the two truck ones to a friend who is now still looking for a lens for his car.  It might not have been correct for judging but I was safe while hunting.  Just a suggestion  of an interim solution.  Good Luck.

Thanks for the help and advice, I’ve picked up a pair of Model A lights which I will fit for now, I’ll keep looking and may  pop over to Hersey again to see what I can find.

Cheers Dave
