1930 Buick - cleaning a fuel pump

Recommended Posts

Just have a general question.  I am planning on rebuilding a fuel pump for a 1930 Buick with a potmetal body.  Can the fuel pump be soaked in carburetor cleaner prior to rebuilding without damage?  I am just referring to the disassembled potmetal body itself, not any rubber or fabric based parts.

Thanks,

Michael

Terrell Machine will rebuild your pump for $75-85 . They will check linkages and test the unit. They are super fragile. I would consider letting a pro do it.

Actually I have rebuilt these exact model of fuel pumps twice before and they are very easy to do with a bit of caution.  I was just curious about the results when using carburetor cleaner.

Thanks,

Michael

Welcome to the AACA forums SergioD .  You would confuse people less and probably get better quicker replies if you started your own topic rather than HI-JACKING another persons thread.

Good luck with you fuel pump rod .
