I know they made 2,300 Rivi's in 1965 with the LW 425.

Does anyone know know how many of those had a vinyl top, power windows, with the deluxe interior?

Thanks!

Records for the Riviera are not broken down that way.  You can find the % breakdowns and numbers for each separate option in The Riview in the articles "Options not included."  But there is no record of combinations.

I wonder when GM started breaking down models down to indicate production with the various options and colors. Several years ago I was able to research a Firebird model's production I wanted to buy right down to the color, engine and transmission.

One observation I've made is that it seems to me that the  1965 GS Rivieras seem to have more than their

share of vinyl tops installed, for whatever reason. Vinyl tops are pretty rare on a base engine 65 Riviera,    not so much on the GS models.

Ed,

This is not correct. The same document which gives us the production levels of the individual options, the Daily Car Report, also lists some select option combinations. They are not option combinations which most would find interesting. Over the years I have sifted thru these combos, for instance the GS option combined with any others, but have not found anything which is very exciting.

Winston,

I suspect you are correct that more GS models as a percentage were built with the vinyl top versus the lesser equipped models but I think this statement could also be made for cars equipped with power options, custom interior, etc..having said that, I keep an eye out for vinyl top equipped cars, because I like the option, and I have encountered many such cars with standard interior and base engines. I am generally careful about using the descriptive term "rare" and I wouldnt apply that term to the vinyl top option but this option is very unusual on any `65 Riv, GS or otherwise. Again, if memory serves me well, Buick produced 2000 `65 Rivs with the factory vinyl top option.

I do have a sales bulletin which was produced for Buick dealers (this bulletin is rare as I have only seen one!) about the spring release of the vinyl top option and if memory serves me there is a mention of marketing the option "to your Gran Sport prospects", hence my original statement.

Dan,

Buick did keep track of some option combinations but not many interesting ones. The combinations which apply to the 425 single 4 barrel option are auto trans, air conditioning and air conditioning modification (basically heavy duty cooling)....but not those you have listed,

Hi Dan,

Buick did track a few option combinations but not many. Along with the 425 single 4 barrel carb engine, Buick tracked this engine in combination with the auto trans, air conditioning and air conditioning modification (essentially heavy duty cooling)...but none of the options you asked about,

When I was searching for a 65 all those years, I really didn't care for the vinyl top. However, when I saw this white with the black vinyl top, I was sold. Just really seemed to set it off. BTW, base engine, no GS car, but pretty well equipped otherwise.

Thanks for all of the comments.

I seemed to have found a LW 425 car with the above listed options.

It also has power seats, AC, and cloth upholstery.

It's Turquoise Mist, which I also think was somewhat rare for that year?
