Guest Chet Wigley
The compressor clutch does not engage on my 1990 TC. Is there a fuse or relay specific to the A/C Compressor ?
TwinCamFan
Yes. Look on the firewall where the AC lines hit the distribution manifold(big rectangular chunk of aluminum) see the sensor screws in that hasz a couple wires going to it? That's the' low pressure cut out switch'. Pull the electrical lead off it and bypass it with a paper clip shaped into a U shape. Does the compressor come on now? If it does DONT RUN IT LIKE THAT! This was only a test, if thee is low pressure in the AC system the LPCS switch is designed to keep the compressor from burning up. AC systemlikely needs recharging... Guest Chet Wigley
Thanks TwinCamFan, I appreciate the reply. I did find out through additional research that low pressure in the system would hold out the A/C clutch from engaging and your response confirmed that. I’ll do the test as stated and therefor have the best info on where to go next. Much Appreciated, CW
