Gary W Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Hi Greg; I have a '37 Special that I just finished re-wiring with a new harness. The '37 has a 3-prong plug under the dash that connects the dash harness to the trunk harness, but I also re-used my original. I'll share the link to the photos of how I did it, but I learned after that you can unsolder the wires from the "male" side of the plug. I didn't know that and was hesitant to overheat things. Here's my wiring link to some photos: (Just click that single arrow on the top right corner) Good Luck! Gary
Guest Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 (edited) Thanx Gary for the great detail! Edited December 10, 2017 by Guest (see edit history)
Gary W Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 I purchased it from Rhode Island Wiring in March / April this year. What I found very helpful was that I went through the wiring diagram "blueprint" and labeled the wires to where they go. That way I didn't have to constantly refer to the instructions for every little wire.... just follow your tags and assemble away!
cxgvd Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 I need to replace the engine harness this winter for my '39 Century and am dreading working under the dashboard. Could I remove the steering wheel and then the instrument panel to make it more convenient? Regards, Gary V
39BuickEight Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 The best way to make it easier it to take out the front seat. The steering wheel would help, but there is still nowhere to lay or situate comfortably with the seat in there. 1
Ben Bruce aka First Born Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 I agree with Billy. Remove the front seat. Ben

Drug all the tools I thought I needed in on the first trip. Got the rest on the second trip and was quite comfortable, once I laid down. Learned the benefits of a neon trouble light too. No heat !!!
