Outstanding Artwork

Recommended Posts

I just discovered the work of Martin Lewis, an Australian born artist that worked mostly in New York in the twenties and thirties.  Any antique car buff should like these magnificent etchings that really capture the feel of the period.  Mr. Lewis passed away in 1962 and is virtually forgotten today.

Those are pretty amazing.  I did alot of artwork with similar subjects in Highschool and after.  I always look at the little things that were so hard to create/ capture in pen and ink.  He seems to have mastered all the areas that I either never did or took a long time to figure out how.  Do you have any more by him?

Top shelf stuff! I wounder if those are thoughts that he put on paper, or was he drawing a scene that he was looking at?

Amazing. One could almost get lost within the images - they're so good at eliciting emotion.
