Any idea what this old jack would be for?

Found this when cleaning out the old coon cage at my Moms'

If you unscrew the end cap you can pump the cap and the cylinder comes out. Has a ball connector on other end. Must be adjustable because of the indexed holes?

Any ideas?

Any value to anyone?

My guess is it is not a car related part, but maybe used on a house awning that can be adjusted to different heights.

Looks like a jack from an old camper that holds it above a truck bed.
