Laughing Coyote Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Here is something you don't see very often. Be a cool addition to an older car. https://tucson.craigslist.org/ele/d/rca-auto-car-record-player/6291164565.html
Guest Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 If I had a period correct car for that, I'd be all over it.
capngrog Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Back in the early 1960s, a friend had one of these (or something similar) in his new Corvair. Unless the car was sitting still, it was pretty much useless, since the stylus would skip across the record at the slightest bump in the road. I don't recall much detail about the unit other than it was a major pain in the ash due to the frequent stylus skipping on the records. My friend told me that the records he used in the player tended to wear out quickly, apparently due to excessive stylus pressure, which was employed to hopefully reduce the incidence of skipping while driving. I guess it would be a cool period-correct accessory ... just don't play your treasured collector 45 rpm records on it. Cheers, Grog
Gunsmoke Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Have an old car friend who has a working one in his '56 Chrysler, way cool, works perfectly standing still, great for watching submarine races!! 1 1
JACK M Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 I am forwarding this to a friend that has a couple of thousand 45s.
