Jack Worstell Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Can someone decipher engine number 4786676 S for me ? Thanks Jack Worstell jlwmaster@aol.com
jvelde Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 If the last digit is a 5 rather than an S, it would fall into the 1946-1947 number range.
Jack Worstell Posted September 30, 2017 Author Posted September 30, 2017 Special or Super or Roadmaster ?
jvelde Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 The ending digit 5 indicates Super, which in '46/'47 was a 248 ci engine.
jvelde Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Here is a link to Team Buick's reference pages showing the engine numbers by year. https://www.teambuick.com/reference/ident_engine_til_52.php
Ben Bruce aka First Born Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Jack, do you have a picture of the engine? Ben
Jack Worstell Posted September 30, 2017 Author Posted September 30, 2017 No picture Ben. It's advertised locally...about 50 miles from me. I thought it might be a 263 but it looks like it isn't. Jack

Jack Worstell Posted September 30, 2017 Author Posted September 30, 2017 OK...thanks for the tip. Jack
Ben Bruce aka First Born Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 And the first 263 is 1950. Ben
