critterpainter Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Saw this on the upcoming copart auction in Danville VA. Since I am in CA I have no way to satisfy my wants https://www.copart.com/lot/40553017 1
JV Puleo Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I've seen that ad before... I very much doubt it is a 1920 car. It would have been hopelessly old fashioned. Unless someone put an early body on a later chassis that is much more likely around 1910.
mvmautorossa Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 There is a plate on the back that shows "VCC 1909" - would validate the thought that the body is from around 1910.
Terry Bond Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Wonder what the story is behind it? Salvage title and indication the car was "stripped." The rear body framework would support a nice rear entrance toneau body. I can just imaging it with an impressive set of brass lamps. The plaque is an official dating plaque from the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain so it's obviously an import from England. If anyone has a background on the car it would be great to post it . motoringicons Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 (edited) I believe it is a Model AG or AX Renault from around 1909-1911' ish. These are really popular amongst the 1 and 2 cylinder people. They have a two cylinder, vertical engine that makes good power and rpms. They really go down the road nicely and have a three-speed transmission. They have proven to be very reliable tour cars and there are quite a few of them in the USA. The body on this one looks a homemade, but this is a great basis for a desirable car. It would be well worth pursuing. Edited September 29, 2017 by motoringicons (see edit history) 1
