PWB Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Not mine. Just had to share. One sweet gem: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BUICK-1966-RIVIERA-POWER-ANTENNA-NOS-GM-/263213488559?hash=item3d48bf19af:g:MtIAAOSwicZZvpTU&vxp=mtr 1
kreed Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Probably a reasonable price if you need one but it always puzzles me when someone labels something "NOS" when it clearly is a used piece . The "N" stand for new not used so maybe they should say "UOS" instead ! If this truly is new then it's had a rough storage life for 50 years . KReed ROA 14549 1
Seafoam65 Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 (edited) That part looks used to me....best guess is someone bought an nos one, then removed it from the box and put their good used one in the box and now selling as nos to get their money back. I bought a supposed nos rear view mirror one time like that....the only thing nos was the box. Edited September 25, 2017 by Seafoam65 (see edit history)
JZRIV Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Units installed on 66-67s almost always had some level of undercoating or black-out paint on them especially the lower end at motor and somewhere along the wiring as well. That one is clean. I think it could be NOS. $250 is a steal if it is.....assuming it works of course.
68RIVGS Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 (edited) I vote for NOS - The hardware (...silver cad plated, self tapping screws on the mast tube, and the screw threads at the base of the motor housing mount are still clean), the pot metal motor housing doesn't show any signs of corrosion, or an accumulation of dirt. The mast tube was made from galvanized metal that darkens with age. It has the finish of a 50 year old part that was stored under unknown conditions in it's original GM Buick packaging. Look at the condition of the box that also shows it's age, after being stored all these years. In any case, this NOS electric antenna assembly will fit all 2nd generation Riviera ! Note how far the retracted antenna protrudes from the top portion of the antenna black nylon bushing! Edited September 26, 2017 by 68RIVGS (see edit history)
68RIVGS Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 (edited) . . . sold for $327.66 US greenbacks - someone else figured it was NOS too ! Edited October 3, 2017 by 68RIVGS (see edit history)
