edinmass Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 (edited) It's a firetruck distributor. Used from 1938 to about 1950. Can't remember the exact application but I have several of them on the shelf. The cars that used the dual plugs like Nash, Stutz, ext use the much larger distributor series than the one in your photo. On eight and twelve cylinder engines, they use two distributors. oldford Posted September 22, 2017 Author Posted September 22, 2017 You may be correct, I know less about this than I care to mention. However, I mounted it in the socket in the Marmon 34 generator and it fit perfectly and the gear meshed as well. Frank
edinmass Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Marmon 34 is early for this distributor unless it's a later replacement. But the offset rotor makes me think it isn't Marmon.
oldford Posted September 24, 2017 Author Posted September 24, 2017 My ignition books show that the cap and rotor are both used by Marmon for 1926-1927. The Model 74 and 75 used the same engine as the 34, and were dual ignition 6 versions of the Model 34 engine. There is a photo on page 177 of the Marmon Heritage that shows the E-75 engine with the same distributor as mine on the end of the generator. I stand by my belief that this is a Marmon distributor... nickelroadster Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 I believe that the 26 D-74 used the kind of connectors on top of the distributor. This distributor was used on a Pierce and a Stutz also but I believe that you are correct that it will fit a Marmon.
Ed Dalton Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 the distributor in the picture is just like the one i have in my 1927 E75 town coupe 6 cylinder .. marmon i am needing a distributor cap . rotor . points and condensers for this car.. the distributor cap with the screw on connections was for a fire truck engine ..which will still work for me ... if anyone can help me finding these items ,. i would appreciated a responce .. thanks..

The contact arm was used in 10 models IA-10 (incl. 2 Packard, 1 Stutz, Hup E2, Cad 314) the points IB-10 in 29 models (incl. 5 Packard, 2 Peerless, 3 P-A, 5 Stutz, 4 Lincoln, 4 Cad, 2 1927 Buick, Blackhawk L-6) distributor cap IC-13 in 3 models (Blackhawk L-6, P-A "36") rotor ID-12 in 3 models (Blackhawk L-6, P-A "36") distributor shaft or coupling IH76 in one model. Spinneyhill Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 The Standard Auto Electrician's manual 1928-1937 does not show a 666-G distributor as fitted to any vehicle (car). The MoToR's Truck and Tractor Repair Manual 1950 lists 666-D, 666-F & 666-H but not what they fit. Grrrr.
