alsfarms Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 (edited) Can anyone here share some information regarding Elster Hayes and the rims he built? What years did he build them? Did he build more than the single lock ring style that is found around in our antique auto hobby? Does anyone have or know of any spare 27" and 28" lock rings to fit the Elster Hayes rim? They are a nice simple design! Al Edited September 18, 2017 by alsfarms correct spelling (see edit history)
playswithbrass Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Hi there I have one of the Oakcrest machine shop info booklets titled Automobile wooden spoke wheels cost $ 1.00 I have a set of his wheels on my 1912 McIntyre which I purchased from them in the early 1980's.There is not a date on the booklet but it is done on a type writer. One last thing the name is Elster C. Hayes. Hope this helps. Peter
alsfarms Posted September 17, 2017 Author Posted September 17, 2017 Hello Peter, Thanks for your response with a bit of information about "Elster Hayes". I guessed at the first name incorrectly with Ulster. Does the booklet you have list an address? If so I would give it a long shot and see if the business or derivative may still be open for business.
