Label with part number is gone from box.  Casting number is B.S.1004  55455 F.R.1

ID is about 7-1/4".  OD is 8-1/2"  with a peak that is 8-7/8" across.  Depth is about 2-1/2" at the peak and about 1-1/4" at the mounting screw.

There were a couple of Sunbeam parts in the same lot as this but don't let that restrict your thoughts!

B.S. 1004 is probably a British Standard, under which it was made. The last issue was 1972 and it has been superseded.

It is the " Specification for zinc alloys for die casting and zinc alloy die castings ".

Thank you to all who replied so far!  I've found a Lucas catalog https://fromtheframeup.com/uploads/Lucas_Parts_List.pdf and was unable to match the casting number to anything, so thinking part is newer than 1962, IF casting numbers are same as part number.

Looked thru a lot of pictures of mid late 60's and early 70's British cars, and there are several that look similar including 1964 Hillman Minx 1600.   I'm thinking a match to the casting number is needed for positive ID since the appearance is so similar between several makes/models/years.

Remember that the British Motor industry was much different than the US industry.  Many call it a cottage industry.  It was more a bunch of independents that didn't bother tooling specific lights etc.  They picked the lamps out of the Lucas catalog, the instruments out of the Smiths of Jaeger catalog, and the brakes out of the Lockheed or Girling catalog and then designed a car around them.  This headlamp ring is an upgrade from the plain one and very well was used on many cars, all of which used the same bucket.  A good, straight on photo showing the peak at the top will help an owner positively identify it.  A view perpendicular to the mounting surface would help show it.  The first view indicates that the top has a substantially sharp and high peak yet the view from the back shows it as a rather modest peak.  Since this profile needs to match the fender shape, it is the identifying feature.  Another view straight down from the top would also show if the eyebrow is curved or pointed.  Not likely that you will find those views from car pictures but will it help the guy who owns one to identify it for you.

Here is some info on this rim. I am in the vintage British parts business and familiar with this rim.  First, you do not have the complete number, probably miscast when it was made.  The actual part number, cast into the rim, is 555455. The BS is for British Standards, promoting British parts, the 1004 is the number assigned to headlamp/lighting components.

In all of the catalogs I have going back to 1935 and later this number does not appear in any of them.  Nor does in appear in any of the price schedules or superseded numbers list. I have a couple of these in my inventory and have never been able to find correct fitment.  Everybody I show them to comes up with some fitment that is not correct.

I have one of my contacts in the UK trying to track it down there, so far no luck.

Physically it will fit most Lucas 700 series headlamp buckets.

Good Luck
