dpeeler Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Looking for the person that is making oval gas tanks and the "dogbone" filler caps for a speedster project of mine. I've heard there was someone in the midwest but don't have contact info. Can anyone help? Thanks!
dpeeler Posted September 12, 2017 Author Posted September 12, 2017 Yes. I'm looking for a larger diameter tank than what they offer and have resolved to have one special made.. Thanks, David
mikewest Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Don I have some oval tanks and these newly cast caps in yellow brass. Caps are $85.00 each Ill explain what I used for threads and wil post pics of the tanks tomorrow, Mike 5857381541
Mark Shaw Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 I have this tank for sale. It is 11.5" X 17" X 25.5" near Portland OR. No charge for the extra hole... Make offer via PM as I do not frequent this part of the forum.
brasscarguy Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I have a 1913 Overland raceabout oval tank for sale. It is a oval tank that was mounted on an angle from the rear deck sloping upwards to the seat back. Can supply photos. brasscarguy@comcast.net
dpeeler Posted February 14, 2018 Author Posted February 14, 2018 Thanks for both replies but my speedster is a larger framed car and the gas tank will probably need to be 35" to 36" long and round. That's why I was looking to have one made and not having much luck.
C Carl Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 David , as it has been almost 6 months , I am somewhat tempted to show you some of Bernie Long's parts piles. Unfortunately (or maybe not - rust forms slowly in inland Southern Cal) , Bernie is about an hour East of L.A. Also , I have not talked to him since last Summer. If you don't know anyone in the area , we surely must have a member who knows Bernie. He is a well-known old hoss trader. FWIW , take a look. - Carl
ArticiferTom Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Try Lang's Parts , dozens to chose from . But most look to be 23 to 28" length , may be a side by side of 23's . Good Luck .
Mark Wetherbee Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Try calling someplace like Firefly restoration in Hope Maine, they work on antique fire trucks several of which had an oval tank behind the seat and would be much larger than car tanks. They might have one or point you in the right direction.
