Guest JeepDad123 Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 My father-in-law gave me this little tool kit with hopes that I could find some information or a value on it. He says he picked it up several years ago from a pawn shop and was told it was from a Model T. Trouble is, I can't find any information on a kit like this one. All the little wrenches have what looks like feeler gauges attached to them and there is a larger set of feeler gauges as well. If anyone can point me in the right direction or has some information it would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!
46 woodie Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 It may have been used on a Model T, but it did not come in the standard tool kit. Also if in the event that it did, it would be stamped with Ford script. If I had to guess I would say that it's a kit sold to be used on distributors, points etc.
1912Staver Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 (edited) They are generally described as magneto tool kits, but they were sold well into the points and coil era. Reasonably common, and made by several manufacturers . The better ones have the makers trade mark on each tool. The set of Kastar feelers is quite a bit more modern than the other tools, they were sold at least as recently as the 1990's. Greg in Canada Edited September 8, 2017 by 1912Staver (see edit history)
SC38dls Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 (edited) If you ask VL2 she will tell you it needs an AX to be complete. See "Tight lug nut" thread for explanation Edited September 7, 2017 by SC38DLS (see edit history)
GARY F Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 I have a couple of those wrenches in an old tool box that my grandfather had
Terry Bond Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 A neat thing to collect. I have several of these little "kits." The wrenches themselves are often embossed with the name of the magneto they are used to service - e.g. Bosch, Remy, Splitdorf, etc. Not a great amount of value i them. Individual wrenches are a buck or two each in the swap meets. A pouch full of them most likely contains variety of tools and its hard to tell whether it's complete or not. I've picked up a few in the $15-$20 range. I keep one kit handy with my 1912 Triumph motorcycle as there are specific wrenches in there for my Bosch magneto as well as the carburetor. Terry
