1942 Buick Super Convertible build

Hi everyone.  I'm new to the forum but not to Buick.  Back in 1994 my dad bought a 1942 Buick in Missouri.  It was already built and customized but it was done in the 80's.  We brought it home to California and it was a show stopper.  My dad, being the hot rod enthusiast he is, couldn't leave well enough alone and began working on it to make it his.  The paint was stripped and body customizations began.  It was given a red paint job with some left over paint he had sitting around to see where the body was.  Even though it was a guide coat it still looked amazing and was still a show stopper.  My dad builds and sells street rods so it slowly began taking the back burner since he was still buying and fixing other cars.  Fast forward to 1999 and he pulled the engine (350 Chevy) with the intention of putting a LT1 in it.  Again other projects took over and the tarp was finally placed over her to protect the top.  Fast forward again to July 2017.  I picked up my dad from the airport since my parents sold my sister my mom's car.  She wanted a new Jeep and they were going to sell her current car, which was still fairly new.  My sister's car went the way of the dodo bird so she needed a car.  As were driving home he tells me they decided to just give my sister the car.  He said to be fair to me they decided to give me the Buick.  I almost crashed after hearing this.  My parents knew how much I lived this car before she went out to pasture.  I drove more miles with it than my dad did.  It was my prom car, weekend cruiser and costal get away vehicle.  Needless to say I had a lot of memories with it and always wanted to finish it.  My dad knew he was probably not going to finish it himself since he's getting older.  So now begins the fun and expensive journey of reliving memories and building a dream.

The plans for the car are to take off from where my dad left off, which isn't much.  They body work was almost perfect when he last worked on it.  But time has taken its toll on the paint, top and interior.  It will be powered by another 350 Chevy.  The paint is going to be black.  My dad already bought the paint before we pulled the engine and the paint is still good fortunately.  Its the blackest black you can get.  It will be given a new black cloth top and red leather interior.  From there the sky is the limit.

So far already I've replaced the tires, painted the engine bay and under the hood.  In the coming days the engine and transmission will be going in and hopefully will be back on the road by the next weekend.  Good times ahead!
