tdpole1 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I am still hunting for the speedometer drive gear that meshes with the worm gear in transmission for my 29-20 Buick. It would probably be easier to find the proverbial needle in the hay stack. If anyone has any suggestions as to where I might look I would appreciate the help. Thanks, Tad
Hubert_25-25 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Tad, Do you have a 1929 Buick parts book, It would help to know the part number that you are looking for. The worm gear which spins on the transmission output shaft is probably good, and this would be the hard part to replace anyway. I show part number 213288 for the worm gear (1929 ser 116 and 1932 ser 50-60). For the Driven gear, I show 22 teeth. part #848124 (1929 -20-27 etc) - see below, as this lists the other transmissions that will have this part. Note that driven gears for 1932 series 50 is a 23 tooth, and the 1932 series 60 is a 20 tooth. So it looks like there are several 1929 model transmissions, and a 1932 series 60 that will work. On my 1925 Standard, You remove the speedometer driven gear my removing the large hex on the left side of the transmission. **IT IS REVERSE THREADED**. The driven gear comes out on the left side. Do you have any of the 3 parts shown below? Any pictures of what you have? Hugh
