Hey everyone I am new to this site and new to vintage FORD trucks.  I recently purchased a 1950 FORD F6 Hot Rod Truck and need some help with the TAG decoding.

The TAG in the glove box has the following info:

16000 lbs

Engine No: 98RTH-482991

Model: 9R8TH

Series F6

Firewall TAG has:

98RTH * 482991*HP

Now with then being a Hot Rod set-up there are no marking on the firewall or frame, both blasted and painted.

I was just curios to what all the numbers mean?

Thanks,

Jack

I found info back a few years ago for decoding the numbers but can't find it right now. I have 50 F1. Here is what I did find.

9 = 1949/50 model year

8R = 239 V8

T = F4-6 truck

H = ??

6 digit serial number continues from 49 but yours is well into the 1950 part of the numbers

HP = assembly plant, I couldn't find an HP but MP is Memphis, TN in case you mis-read it.

I have is documented correct, the numbers and letters are clear (see attached photos).  I agee I can't find any info for  "HP" or the "H" after the "T".

Thanks for the info, title does say 1950 FORD Truck series F6, I was just trying to confirm all the numbers and letters....thanks again

You may want to go to Ford Truck Enthusiast forum. Go to the older truck section called 48-54 F1, F100 & Larger

they will ill be able to help you with anything on an 1950 F6 and they are a bunch of nice guys. They like pictures and if you post them you will get more answers.  They can tell you where to get parts also. What are the wheels like? Do you know about "widow makers"?

As for the HP, would it possibly be the Highland Park Plant?  Does any one know if any automobile / truck production was done there during or after WWII?  What I have read no, but never know.
