victorialynn2 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 (edited) I caught the last part of the Mecum auction today. What a joy to see how happy this lady was when her husband passed on buying a Bronco, to purchase her dream car. 1957 T-Bird. Smart husband. Cars can evoke so much emotion. It was truly a joy to see how happy she was. I admit it, I teared up. ? This is is a Facebook link. It's not on their website yet. https://www.facebook.com/mecumauction/videos/1598106980213650/ Edited August 4, 2017 by victorialynn2 (see edit history)
auburnseeker Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Had a 61 Tbird conv't. Sold it and bought a 57 Tbird. Both in similar respectable road ready condition. My wife actually liked the 61 Better and wishes we would have had the place to keep it and funds. Sold it to pay for the 57. It ended up financially being an even swap. The 61 was the car I first dated her in, though I did expose her to the 66 Chevy Short Bed fleetside with the 454 and flow masters (she didn't like that and she's a truck girl, nor did she care for the 68 427 Tripower Corvette I had that same year. Her preference was still that 61 Tbird. It did atleast have the roadster tonneau to make it look a tad Sportier. This was all in 2003 and I was 28 , she was 25. She also went for a couple rides in the 32 Cabriolet Hiboy but didn't care for that so much. She said the turbulence blew you all around in it and it was loud with just a pair of lakes style headers. This from a Girl, who's first wheels were a Motorcycle. She did get to ride in my 56 Olds hardtop as well. I don't remember her thoughts on that, but it wasn't one of her favorites. Still have the Olds and the Hot rod. The Vette turned into a Dually truck and the 57 eventually got sold after about 10 years along with the dually to join finances to buy the 60 Fuelie Corvette. The funds from the 66 Chevy went into another car as well. I try to reinvest my money from old cars back into old cars, Just lately has it been pulled out to buy a bigger house with property and equipment to grow and maintain the property.
cahartley Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 I love the mid 50's T Birds but the 61's and 62's really get me going....... 1
auburnseeker Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 I actually like the earlier ones better. Still would like to get a 55. I have been looking for a 64 or 65 to buy at some point and that one over in the buy sell is really really tempting. I haven't had one of those yet.
