airbrush Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Hi, I have a 1927 Buick and wanted to find out what model etc it is. The body plate says Fischer job number 6750 the body number is 7923. Can anyone throw any light on it please?
dibarlaw Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 That model information should be stamped on the ID plate on the engine side of the cowl. ie. 27-47, 27-26, 27-40. Mine is stamped 25-25 which makes my car a 1925 Model 25 Standard 6 Touring car. Larry
airbrush Posted July 30, 2017 Author Posted July 30, 2017 we havent found any other plates yet but will keep looking
ROD W Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Attach some photos and we can tell you what Model it is. Is it a Master or a Standard.
airbrush Posted July 30, 2017 Author Posted July 30, 2017 I'm not sure which it is. I bought it as a master but have no idea how to tell.
nzcarnerd Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 (edited) Measure the wheelbase - the Standard is 114" and the Master either 120 or 128 depending on the model. If it only has six hub bolts on the rear wheels it is a Master - the Standard has more - the difference (I think) between full floating and semi floating rear axles. Another way to tell is that the Standard has the crank handle below the radiator shell and the Master has it through the lower edge of the shell - which at first glance means you have a Standard. The Master engine has a water distribution pipe along the top whereas the Standard does not. Do a Google image search to compare them - but don't believe everything you read. nzcarnerd Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Compare also the instrument panels. Master - Standard - 1
nzcarnerd Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 With a little research I have learnt something today myself. 1
ROD W Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 airbrush You have a 1927 Standard 4- door sedan Model 27 - 27. As nzcarnerd said it is on the 114" wheelbase chassis and a 207 cu inch motor. This was Buicks most popular model with 40,272 produced. As you can see in the above photo, the Standard has the round instrument gauges
