rlcokc Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Link to ebay auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1948-Buick-Super-Convertible-Two-Door-/253058407340?hash=item3aeb74dbac:g:sBsAAOSw32lY0uJx&vxp=mtr I have two 1936 specials and a 67 GS 400 and know very little about this vintage Buick. Looks good but I have no idea about value. Know its hard to tell from photos but would be interested in input from those who are more familiar with the market as well as in any apparent problems with the vehicle. Attached photo shows the vehicle. Thanks Rod 1
michel88 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 It looks like a beautiful restoration and it was a done on a very solid original. The interior looks very nice and the owner has done some work to eliminate some minor flaws as well as tuning and putting on new tires. It does not mention that engine was rebuilt but it looks like it was and it is very nice under the hood. I have always considered this a great looking Buick. I am not sure of the value but there is a '48 Super Convertible in the August Hemmings that is claimed to be fully restored for $79,500. You could check eBay for ones that have sold recently.

There was a near-perfect yellow '47 or '48 Super convertible on the forum a year or two ago that was realistically priced, as I recall, in the $50's. The seller was a hobbyist in this part of Penna. I say, never look at ASKING prices. Some are so optimistic that they are barely relevant. And so many of these nice-looking cars have been restored, that if you miss this one, you can quickly find another, almost even in your choice of color! 60FlatTop Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 The seller might have added a little extra for that photography night class they always wanted to take. Bernie
Pete Phillips Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Agree with Bernie: Photo looks very "doctored up", almost unnatural. 1
BuickBob49 Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 I believe there was a 1948 Super convertible that sold recently in Portland, OR, for just under $60k. It was a 400-point car at the BCA National in 2014! Sequoia Cream with red interior. Very nice car!
48Super Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 The car you are referring to once belonged to me. Here is the sale ad: Sure wish I could have gotten 60K for it when I sold it. Funny, the "professional appraisers" I spoke to said I'd be lucky to get 40K for it. I hope the new owner likes it, it was a GREAT car.
61polara Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 (edited) Very nice restoration. The only thing that may be missing is the pin striping on the wheels. Should be 3 bands. Wonderful driving cars You won't regret this one. Edited July 31, 2017 by 61polara (see edit history)

Mike, we hobbyists really appreciate it when cars are priced reasonably, as yours was. Far too many cars these days are advertised (especially by dealers) at prices that are away off the mark; and such a practice does nothing to promote the hobby. Your car was really nice, and thank you for pricing it the way you did. Don't feel like you missed out.

I liked it and it was close. I am still working on my sell three, buy one plan. A car like yours will be my target. Bernie 1
